Your pet's age in human years:
How Pet Age Calculation Works
The conversion from pet years to human years varies significantly between species and even breeds. Our calculator uses scientifically-based formulas:
- Small Dogs: Age calculation uses a logarithmic formula to account for their unique aging pattern.
- Medium Dogs: First two years count as 15 and 10 years respectively, then 5 years per year after.
- Large Dogs: Similar to medium dogs but age faster, with 12 years for the second year and 7 years per year after.
- Cats: 15 years for first year, 9 for second, then 4 years per year.
- Rabbits: 20 years for first year, then varying rates after.
- Hamsters: Age very quickly in their first months.
- Birds: Age more slowly, with 10 years for the first year.
- Reptiles: Generally age very slowly compared to mammals.
